My 5 Favorite Grimoire Spreads (so far)

Journaling has been one of the most consistent magical practices I have ever had. It has given me so many things; organization, a creative outlet, a way to clear my mind, a to do list, and even just a place to doodle!

While I have been sharing my bullet journal practice on my youtube for a while, I am now diving into sharing my Grimoire (AKA, my Magic Book). This book contains, things that are meaningful to me, things that inspire me, things that I think are beautiful, and sometimes magical information I use to reference! All to say, this book is mainly an outlet for self expression and self discovery. For in my life the more I know myself and my true Will, the better my life turns out!

So…. keep in mind, this is a work in progress. Most of the pages I will be sharing with you may have empty spots. This is intentional. I like to leave these spots for when inspiration strikes down the road. I know that topics meaning can develop over time and I like to leave room for my book, (and myself really) to breathe, live and expand.

May all those who look upon these pages do so with love and good intention!

Moon Phase Grimoire Spread

This spread is on tea dyed college ruled paper as well as tea dyed printer paper. I colored in the paper with sharpies that were drying up, leaving the moons in their phases white as well as cloud bubbles to write in. This whole writing in clouds thing is a system I use a lot. Now in the photo you can see I have some simple energies associated with each phase of the moon as well as the associated season. And as I stated above, there is empty space for me to learn more! I already have some ideas of what I would like to add to this. Perhaps menstrual cycle associations would be helpful!

Self Love Spread

This is a spread I did to remind myself of how much I love myself. I will often keep my Grimoire open to this page on my alter to remind me of these feelings. I created this spread very intentionally, and each element has a story as well as a meaning associated with it. In that way this collaged spread its self is a spell.

These pressed flowers were from a pic-nick I had and I looked at the petals under a gem loop admiring the sparkling cells of pink in the sunlight. So I encased one flower in thrifted mod-podge, I taped another in, and I left one loose to admire. I also cut out little flower shapes from pink metallic wrapping paper I got from a gift from my sister to remember the sparkeling pink flowers that we all are.

If you would like to do a spread like this, I would suggest you be especially careful with how you word your affirmations. You don’t want to have a feeling like you are lying to yourself when you read them. for affirmations to work, you really have to resonate and vibrate with the energy of the statement. That can take 1 second some days and a couple of minutes another. It is really all about how you are feeling.

Gua-Sha Grimoire Spread

IMG_3452 1920.JPG

I do Gua-Sha scraping every morning on my face at the least. I have a set of rose quartz scrapers that I absolutely love! If you have never heard of Gua Sha I definately suggest you look into it. It is an amazing fascia scraping process that aids in lymphatic drainage. It really helps me wake up my face in the morning! Plus this practice has has been used In ancient Chineese medicine for thousands of years!

To make this spread I used muscular diagrams from an old dictionary and then drew arrows in the direction you are supposed to scrape in. The opposite page was taped in with home made blueberry washi tape. This was a drawing I found on the internet that I then printed out and I also drew a diagram onto that. I believe the neck arrows should be pointing down now that I look at it again! hahaha, It is so cool to see that I am always learning more!

Speaking of which, that empty space! I plan to write more information on these pages about tapping points. I am just now learning about tapping since I have begun a Chi-Gong practice and I have yet to record what I have learned! This would be a great place to begin!

My Human Design Chart

lets get personal!

If you know about Human Design then you will likely know why this is one of my favorite spreads. It is not my favorite for its form, but more for its function. Human design is a self knowledge system that is comprised of astrology, kabbalah, I’Ching, and the Chakra system just to name a few. This gives a whole sense of how a persons energy body works. The goal is to know how your own energy system works, and then live in alignment with that. (For some quick resources, check out Jenna Zoe, My Body Graph, and the Jovian Archive.)

In this spread I used a combination of Jenna Zoes chart printout since it was so pretty, and information from the Jovian archive that I copied 'down into my own little chart. My Body Graph is not as beautiful but it has great information and it a great fast resource! All together this is a rather simple spread but very informative! following this page I have some information about the Gene Keys, but that is a topic for another day.

If you guys are interested maybe I can do a full video or blog post on my chart and what I have learned about my own design so far!

My Halloween (Samhain) Grimoire Spread

I have always loved Halloween! The costumes, the candy, Whats not to love!? And now as I learn more about its pagan origins and what it represents I get to love it even more.

Every year I like to add a layer of decoration to my Sabbat Grimoire page. As you can see this one has yet to gain any information on it! That will be one of my Samhain projects for this year. I have already made a costume that should last me for the rest of my life (An Amanita muscaria,) so this is the creative way I get to celebrate now!

This page has a skeleton cutout from a dictionary as well as some pumpkins cut out of some place mats that I found at a thrift store! Their eyes and mouths were originally black so I cut out some gold foil and glued it to them so they would appear illuminated! A time consuming but rewarding task. For the heading I cut up some chocolate packaging that to imitate a halloween font that I liked! And i colored in the page with some sharpy so I could get more contrast with the shiney letters! So much fun. I am excited to write some information on this page this year!

And there you have it! My 5 favorite Grimoire spreads this far! While I could likely do a complete blog post on each of these Grimoire spreads, I hope these little explanations help you to get some ideas of what you could put in your own Grimoire! These are some things that are meaningful to me, I wonder what it is that holds meaning for you! I wish you well as you get crafin’!

And so it is!

With much love,
